set up today smart mailbox including sent messages

Hello

For reasons unknown to me, apple's mail deleted all my smart mailboxes, including those containing all messages from today (equally yesterday). Setting up a new smart mailbox is easy, but while the options in doing so do contain the criterion "received today", "sent today" is missing. Hence, only incoming mail appears in that smart mailbox. What to do?
